Too soon for Tinsel? Not if you want a stress free December

I've always been a Christmas gal! This pic of me beaming with my red stereo is the most 80's pictures I could find to share but also one of my happiest memories, it feels like yesterday. Every year the Christmas displays arrive and people are horrified….’far too early for that’ I hear you cry!! I love it. Seeing Christmas in October doesn’t make me want to roll my eyes but it gets me in the mood to get organised and reset in my own home. It doesn’t feel to me like we’re wishing our lives away to get to the holidays but giving ourselves the time and space to get reset before the busy weeks ahead. My goal every year is that by the time I am putting up decorations (late November) that I have everything done and planned so that I can get on with enjoying all of the catch ups, family time and celebrations, safe in the knowledge that I’ve done what I can to be as organised as possible.

When is too early for Christmas?

Thinking about the upcoming season early means we can take control and spread out the to do list. I prefer to start to buy earlier to spread the costs for one! I disagree that it means I will end up buying more, quite the opposite. I’ll get a list and stick to it!

In terms of the Santa lists we’ve already done our playroom declutter and started on the Santa wish list so that we can get our letter to Santa to avoid disappointment. By doing a declutter we have made space for what is coming into our home over the next few months, making more thoughtful choices. It isn’t about excess but more about meaning and memories.

I LOVE getting the house ready and decorating every space. Halloween isn’t really my jam anyway so November 1st all of the orange is GONE. Adding sparkle and warmth is always a welcome change to the dreary weather.

Also, once you are organised and reset you can get on with enjoying the true spirit of the season and spending quality time with the people that matter most and not queuing in car parks and tills in a last minute panic. A relaxed and enjoyable Christmas season starts early!

If you are very organised and already thinking about the aftermath, check out my new service that I have launched for January 2026!
