Being asked to speak at the Ideal Home Show UK was an incredible honour and career highlight for me. The Ideal Home Show UK runs in the Olympia London and is a huge annual event that ran this year from March 21st to April 6th. Stepping onto a stage (multiple times on the day!) for an audience passionate about creating and resetting beautiful, functional spaces was both exciting and rewarding.
I have spoken at multiple events around the country and in London, from corporate events to shows like the Home Life and You (previously Clean and Tidy show), from Fashion Shows, to my big event last year in The Organised Store (Dundrum Shopping Centre). I also regularly speak across the Library network. Events are a great way to meet and connect with people that are looking for my top tips and tricks for getting their homes reset.
With every event preparation is KEY. Not just in terms of what I would say but how I would say it and so I wanted to focus on what my key messaging that I wanted people to leave with. I want people to enjoy the talks that I deliver, I want everyone to feel like changing their spaces is possible and that the overriding message is to not feel pressure to have an Instagram home. We want our homes to be comfortable to live in and clutter free but without pressure or judgement. So, I want to be sure to give practical tips that the attendees can take away and easily implement in their own homes. I use real life examples and clear visuals throughout my talks to ensure attendees can see real before and after scenarios that they can implement in their own homes.
I had been speaking to the team for months so I was well rehearsed by the time I arrived. The scale of the show is huge. There are multiple stages and countless brands displaying their products across multiple floors.
My first stop of the day was the Super Theatre stage which was MC’d by Derek Gibbons. I was taking part in a panel discussion with Clara Ansong and Charlie Lemmer. Both are amazing inspirational women running their own successful businesses and the theme for our discussion was The Power of Organising for Wellbeing – as all 3 of us cover slightly different aspects of caring for your home and environment it led to a really interesting discussion.
After the audience Q&A I met with the amazing team from Gathering Media to capture footage for the YouTube channel – I will share this very soon! It was great preparation for my talk which was up next on The Spring Clean Stage!
I met with the fab Louise Gookey who was MC’ing the Spring Clean stage and it was time for me to deliver my talk – Reset your Home: Practical Steps for Decluttering and Lasting Organisation. It was a packed house and the audience has lots of questions which was fantastic. I got some fantastic feedback and met some potential new clients which was very exciting!
Last stop of the day was the Super Theatre for the last panel talk of the day with Derek, Clara and Charlie!
A well deserved glass of bubbles finished off the day!
I can’t wait for my next event and might have a surprise event to announce soon!
